Bender Performing Arts is a bright, modern, 14,000 square foot facility, located in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area, with five large dance rooms, four private music rooms, and two group lesson rooms for acting and voice instruction. Our staff has well over 200 years of combined teaching experience and provides dance classes and music lessons for students from age three through adults.

The state-of-the-art facility boasts of cameras and TV monitors in each classroom with playback capability to help track students’ progress. Raised maple floors will help to ensure the dancers’ safety and large observation windows allow parents to monitor their children while in class.

We built Bender Performing Arts because we found our business growing and we needed more space. As the former owners of Betty Johnson School of Dance, a Phoenix fixture since 1974, we wanted to offer our customers the wider variety of classes and services they had been clamoring for, for years. In addition to the dance instruction for which we were renown, we expanded our programs in dance and private music instruction and added group music lessons, lyrical dance and musical theater to our repertoire.

That’s also the reason for the name change. We have become more than just a dance school. We provide a full performing arts offering. And it just made sense to put our name on the product in which we take so much pride.
