What is Tap Dance?

With its infectious beats and toe-tapping melodies, tap dance extends beyond ordinary movement to create a symphony of sound and movement. Tap dance fuses West African, American, and British step-dance traditions and has evolved through the years. Embracing the hip-hop rhythms of the 80s and 90s, tap dancing has attracted a new generation of male and female dancers who continue to break the boundaries and evolve the style even further.

Our tap dance classes combine movement and music in the most mesmerizing way. With its captivating footwork and infectious beats, tap dance at Bender Performing Arts turns the floor into a stage of sound and motion. Tap dance classes are the perfect choice for dancers of all ages looking to develop a dramatic and unique style.

The Basics of Tap Dancing

Laying a Foundation for a Bright Future

Dance and music play a vital role in increasing strength and confidence. They’re not just about beautiful art—they help children grow as individuals. Music’s melody and dance’s rhythms let us show our creativity and express our emotions when words aren’t enough. Working together as a team helps children learn how to coordinate and get along with different kinds of people.

Grasping the Fundamentals

Students learn the important first steps, kicks, and flicks that define tap dancing. From improvisation to acrobatics, your child will master the rhythm of tap dance. At Bender Performing Arts, we start tap dance classes by teaching

  • Shuffle ball
  • Ball change
  • Step-heel
  • Heel-step
  • Single buffalo

Rhythmic Mastery

Our passionate and caring tap dance class instructors guide your child through each step, breaking down complicated tap dance movements in a way that makes them understandable and repeatable. Your dancer will master the proper body posture and footwork that are at the heart of tap dancing and work their way to performing tap dancing routines set to well-known songs.

Confidence in the Basics

Equipped with the footwork and basics learned in tap dance class, your child will show off their skills with confidence as they take the stage to share their passion with family and friends. Your dancer will carry this confidence and build a platform to inspire others and explore their individuality and potential well into the future.

Inspirational Rhythm & Expanded Creativity

Syncopated Symphony

Syncopation is the heartbeat of tap dancing, a language of unexpected beats and delightful surprises. In our tap dance classes, your child will learn to dance to intricate rhythms, transforming their feet into instruments that add to the music. This mastery of syncopation sets the stage for captivating performances.

Expressive Movements

In tap dance, each step has a story to tell, and at Bender Performing Arts, we’re passionate about helping your child discover the magic of expressing emotions through movement. Our tap dance classes go beyond technique, empowering your child to transform their steps into melodies that convey emotions, tell stories, and create a symphony of artistic expression.

Stories in Sound

Just like a musician creates music, your child will create stories with their feet. In our tap dance classes, they’ll learn to interpret music, match their steps to melodies, and spin vivid tales on the dance floor. This fusion of movement and emotion cultivates their artistic flair, turning them into storytellers who captivate audiences with each tap.

Boosted Creativity

As your child gains the tools to express their thoughts and feelings through dance, their creativity will flourish. They’ll learn to approach challenges with innovative solutions, bringing a newfound imaginative flair to all aspects of their life. Spark their creativity by registering to try a tap dance class near Phoenix, AZ.

Flourishing on the Dance Floor and Beyond

Confidence is a life skill that shapes how we approach challenges. In a supportive and positive environment fostered by caring instructors, your child will not only conquer tap dance routines but also develop a strong sense of self-assuredness that can carry over into every part of their life.
